Action taken on rural crime in Thanet Villages / Rural Drop-in Event reminder |

Hello all,
Further to my recent post, I wanted to share an item of work I was involved in over the last few days. Following reports of a suspicious vehicle appearing to ‘scope out’ rural locations in my ward, I responded with a colleague to find the vehicle. I located it a short time later and the occupants were detained for a stop search. Various weapons and items suspected to be used in poaching were seized from the vehicle, and my colleagues from the Rural Task Force (RTF) were able to provide expert advice at scene and will be continuing an investigation into the individuals involved.
This seems a good time to remind residents of my upcoming engagement event organised with the RTF, where you can take advantage of the opportunity to have your tools and equipment protectively marked to deter theft. This event will be held at The Bell Meadow Pavilion, Bridges Cl, Birchington (St Nicholas-at-Wade) CT7 0PX, on Friday 13th November 2026 between 10:00 and 12:00 hours. We will have a property marking machine which can etch words into plastic, metal or leather, to add unique identifiers to items such as tools, trailers or machinery, as long as the item in question has a flat surface with an area of around 3 x 2 inches. This has recently been put to good use by RTF in the theft of a horsebox where, thanks to the property marking, the recovered trailer was able to be returned to the owner.
Please feel free to share the above event with anyone who you feel may benefit from it.
